Sustainability

For us, practicing sustainability means carefully considering how we source our materials and how we make our products. All of our goods are made by hand, from initial concept to final product, in our Gold Coast-based studio. Keeping our design, development, and production in-house means that we can better control the quality and quantity of our products, helping us to limit waste and maintain ethical work practices.

One of the greatest challenges in starting a small handbag business on Australia’s Gold Coast has been the sourcing of materials, equipment, and skilled leather goods makers nearby (besides our founder) that meet our desired environmental and ethical standards. Despite this challenge, we are committed to using quality and sustainable materials in our products, and when possible, to source them locally.

From Australian vegetable-tanned kangaroo skin to vegan Desserto cactus leather, from lining our bags with natural fibre textile to constructing their exteriors with rescued deadstock or seconds skins, we select all of our materials with various environmental impacts in mind. We even consider the smaller components: hardware, thread, glue, and reinforcements. We strive to support local where we can and to openly communicate our practices with our customers and community.

Our handbags and SLGs are intended to last, which is why we also offer product repairs where possible. We hope to expand and improve this and other offerings as we continue to grow!
